Praia da Amoreira

Widely regarded as the Algarve's best kept secret. Definitely one of our favourite beaches which has it all - a lovely river with sand along its banks for swimming and kayaking, a huge beach with plenty of room for everyone and sand dunes.

This is an awesome beach for surfing and bodyboarding. If you are looking to surf here, there are 2 main breaks - one at the south and the other at the north end of the beach.

Lifeguards are on duty at Amoreira during the summer months.

This beach is accesible by driving through Aljezur and turning left at the Municipal Swimming Pool and then following the scenic drive along the Amoreira river valley or from the cliff top between Monte Clerigo and Amoreira it can be accessed at low tide via steps and then wading across the river.

At Amoreira, by the car park, there is a restaurant. Alternatively the restaurant Gabriel 2 sits on the cliff top at the south end of the river and has a spectacular panoramic view across the river and the beach.

Amoreira has been further immortalised by the band "Off The Lip" who have written a great song about it.
