Praia da Arrifana
Beaches are considered one of the best getaway destinations during the summer and Praia da Arrifana is yet another exceptionally beautiful beach in our part of the Algarve. Arrifana is firmly established as one of Europe's best surfing beaches and as a result it is a mecca for surfers all year round but primarily between June and October.
Amoreira may be the Algarve's best kept secret but Praia da Arrifana is unquestionably the Jewel in the Algarve's Crown.
The Praia da Arrifana beach is perfect for enjoying a relaxed time dipping in the sea and sunbathing, while exploring the more than half a kilometer of sandy shoreline.
Protected by cliffs, the beach is almost like a cove/bay and is safe from the lashings of any tall and dangerous waves, making it an ideal beach to visit for families.
The surfing season begins once the tourist high season ends. At that time the beach turns into a paradise for surf lovers, who get their adrenaline running as the high waves or ‘kangaroos’ rise up from the ocean. If surfing is not of interest, visitors can also visit the nearby Moorish ruins that give a glimpse of the region’s history as well as offer some panoramic views of the beautiful Vicentina coast.
Praia da Arrifana beach belongs to Arrifana, a small fishing village.
Restaurante Praia da Arrifana is located just above the beach and as well as great food it also regularly hosts live bands in the evenings. Other bars and restaurants are prevalent in the main Arrifana village on the cliff top - these include O Paulo and Hello Sailor. The views up and down the coastline are spectacular from the remains of the moorish settlement next to O Paulo.
